MMS CAN NOW FIGHT THE FDA
THANKS TO YOUR EMAILS

This email came in on Tuesday, May 8th, at 9:35 am:

“Daniel… your supporters got my attention. Call me. Ed.”

That’s Edward Snook from the US~Observer who, after receiving hundreds of our emails from all over the world, answered the call.

The MMS Movement couldn’t have made a better friend or garnered a greater asset. If the FDA thought its malicious prosecution of Daniel Smith of Project GreenLife would put a lid on homegrown chlorine dioxide therapy, they forgot to factor in the US~Observer.

Ed’s tenacious news source and unprecedented legal accomplishments have halted nearly four thousand malicious prosecutions over the last twenty years. They have helped put several corrupt government officials out of office and ruined many others.

“An innocent life in prison is a life that’s over,” says Ed. “Not only am I convinced of Daniel Smith’s innocence, I’m convinced the FDA is a monster that has no right interfering with our individual pursuit of health and wellness. Without health freedom, ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’ are just empty ideas.”

The US~Observer, which stands by the Constitution, has pledged to focus its full investigative firepower on all parties involved in the government’s war on MMS and other health freedoms – like raw milk, homeopathic medicine, etc. You can view some of their fine work by going to their website at: www.usobserver.com.

“We’ll hit them on two fronts to start with.” states Ed. “First, in the court of public opinion; and then in their court system with the finest legal team bar none. We will literally strip the FDA of its power as we save those involved with MMS from prison and or from being destroyed financially by a totally corrupted Administrative Government.”

As Ed sees it, the MMS Movement has a cancer growing on it. It’s the same cancer we see growing all over the world. It’s leading cause? Corporate interests like Monsanto, pharmaceutical companies, and the representatives of “We the People” who’d rather court those interests than the blood-bought liberties of their forefathers.

The US~Observer is committed, not only, to Daniel and the MMS Movement but to the fight against this modern day corporate sponsored “food and drug terrorism”.

“The US~Observer will not stop until the fight is won,” says Ed. “This is world history in the making. We’re going to save Daniel and stop this cancer before it becomes incurable.”

This fight isn’t going to be easy though. It will take the US~Observer’s best effort and a team of world-class lawyers to keep Daniel and others out of harm’s way. There is good reason to believe the FDA may be quietly targeting other manufacturers of MMS. Ed has begun handpicking and securing commitments from the best lawyers out there. This will take a lot of resources.

Throughout this whole fight, the entire world will be educated about MMS!

This is where OUR help is needed. There has never been a more broad spectrum and natural health solution than what our MMS Movement offers the world. If the U.S. Government through the FDA successfully outlaws MMS as some “unapproved new drug”, the rest of the world will follow suit. If even one person is hauled off to prison, someone will be next. If the FDA wins jurisdiction over our kitchens, health freedom will be seriously impacted. Use of our own wisdom to treat our own body will be limited, and those limitations would be far reaching.

Consider, if armed government agents forced their way into one man’s home to steal MMS from his kitchen pantry, what could become of all the pantries of the world?

You might be thinking … it wasn’t your home that was raided. It wasn’t your finances that disappeared into a government hole. You’re not the one facing a lifetime in prison, like Daniel. But, in fact, it is you and me because it won’t stop with Daniel. We are all in this together.

It’s always very comfortable when it’s someone else. We could passively sit back and hope they figure it out so it doesn’t impact us, but if you or I were in Daniel’s position, we’d be praying for all the support we could get, and that is what we must give; all the support we can.

If we don’t stop the FDA now, others will be indicted, and more people will die never learning about chlorine dioxide therapy. Daniel has said, “if only one person’s life has been saved by chlorine dioxide therapy, then it hasn’t been in vain.” But he needs experts… and experts cost money. In fact, we all need experts at this critical time.

The US~Observer will be distributing hundreds of thousands of newspapers. The track record of the team of individuals willing to take this fight on is exceptional – but money to fund this battle must be raised.

This is a Battle Cry and we need to build a war chest. Congress isn’t going to do anything. It has to be us, right here, right now. WE must raise these funds. There is no other choice.

If you can afford $20 a month, then give $20 a month. If you can afford $1,000 a month, then give $1,000 a month. If you are a philanthropist, this is a cause worth fully supporting. Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you can give, please do so – Today. Monthly, if you can. Your initial contribution is critical.

Start fundraising – invest a small amount of time to contact everyone you know and enlist their financial support – ask them to do the same. Together, we will shock the world!

The 3 Things We All Must Do:

1. Make a donation – Again, this is critical.

2. Forward this Email to everyone you know and ask them to donate.

3. Commit to this fight, as if it were our own! It is!

Money is replaceable, our health and liberty are not. We know that the FDA is working with other governments around the globe in an effort to control us. Let’s join together now, in a worldwide effort to stop them.

I will be the first to give.

By Dr. Mercola

What would you say if you knew someone had killed 60,000 people? Would you call it a felony of the worst kind, times 60,000? If you totaled up the value of all those lives in criminal court, what would you say they’re worth?

Billions? Trillions?

Or—how about a measly $321 million in exchange for a guilty plea to a misdemeanor? When you consider that this involves the second-largest drug maker in the U.S.—Merck—and its deadly drug Vioxx, then you’ll probably agree that a misdemeanor and a $321 million fine amounts to nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Business analysts were estimating a $25 billion judgment when the drug was taken off the market, but even when combined with the $4.85 billion in payouts to patients who suffered heart attacks and strokesi, the final bill is nowhere close to original estimates of the damage.

Yet that’s the plea agreement Merck recently made with a federal court in Boston on April 19ii, after being charged with illegal promotion of Vioxx for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, before it was approved for that use.

The sad tale brings up memories of what I tried to warn readers about in 1999, when I showed that people taking this drug were at a massively increased risk of dying from heart disease and stroke. It’s tragic that Vioxx was removed only AFTER 60,000 people died.

It’s even more tragic that a court would consider Merck’s illegal promotion of the drug a misdemeanor rather than a felony, since this tactic clearly exposed far more people to the dangerous drug than it would have otherwise. And, adding insult to injury, instead of the billions that Merck anticipated paying out, it got away with such a paltry sum.

Hired Writers Responsible for Some of Merck’s Vioxx Studies?

Particularly galling is the fact that these deaths could have been so easily avoided, were it not for the deceptive maneuvering of parties who stood to profit handsomely from the success of the drug.

Ghostwriting has become an increasingly troublesome problem in the medical science community, and the Vioxx debacle is a perfect example of why ghostwriting medical research is a devious practice that needs to be rooted out.

Merck has previously acknowledged that it has been known to hire professional writers to develop research-related documents that eventually get published under the name of reputable leaders in the medical community. Critics rightfully doubt the validity of such research, and question the actual involvement of the scientists listed as authors of these ghostwritten papers.

Back in 2008, Dr. Joseph S. Ross of New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine came across ghostwritten research studies for Vioxx while reviewing documents related to lawsuits filed against Merck.

According to an April 16, 2008 article on MedHeadlinesiii:

“In about 96 journal publications, Ross and his colleagues discovered internal Merck documents and e-mail messages pertaining to clinical study reports and review articles, some of which were developed by the company’s marketing department, not its scientific department. In others, there is little evidence that the authors recruited for the report made substantial contribution to the research itself. … Some of the authors listed in the Merck study reports of concern… question the true nature of ghostwriting. One neurologist originally listed as “External author?” and then listed as Dr. Leon J. Thal, of the University of California, San Diego in the final draft, died a year ago in an airplane crash.”

An editorial published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)iv that year by Drs. Psaty and Kronmal also questioned whether Merck might have deliberately manipulated dozens of academic documents published in the medical literature, in order to promote Vioxx under false pretenses.

Blockbuster Drugs Tend to Be More Unnecessary than Others

Vioxx was a so-called blockbuster drug—a designation given to extremely popular drugs that generate a minimum of $1 billion in annual sales. Vioxx was marketed in more than 80 countries, and pulled in $2.5 billion in worldwide sales in 2003 alone (the year before it was pulled from the market due to its heart risks). So despite paying out fines in various lawsuits over the drug, Merck certainly made enough from it to cover all such expenses and still make obscene profits while patients were dying in droves.

An important strategy for creating a true blockbuster drug—at least in the United States—is the use of direct to consumer advertising.

A little over 20 years ago direct-to-consumer advertising for drugs was not allowed in the US. Drug advertising is still illegal in most countries around the world, except for the US. If Big Pharma wanted to sell a product, they had to do it through the person prescribing it—your doctor. If a physician didn’t have time to listen to sales reps or attend conferences where new drugs were pushed, well then, sometimes they just didn’t get pushed on you.

But ever since drug advertising became legal in the U.S., Big Pharma has been making big bucks selling you pills that not only are expensive, but intended to keep you hooked on them for life. As with most advertised consumer products, drugs with blockbuster potential are not necessarily important life-saving drugs. No, rather than curing actual disease, these drugs tend to be focused on the treatment of symptoms—symptoms that many people tend to experience, and which may or may not be caused by a particular disease…

Oftentimes, symptom complexes will be given official-sounding designations, to make it appear more like an actual disease. Either way, since these types of drugs cannot cure anything, they must be taken indefinitely—until you die or cannot afford them anymore. According to Melody Petersen, author of Our Daily Medsv:

“Most blockbusters are pills for conditions such as anxiety, high cholesterol or constipation that must be taken daily, often for months or years. They are designed for rich Americans who can afford to buy them.”

6 Kinds of Pills Big Pharma Tries to Get You Hooked on for Life

There are two effective marketing strategies employed by drug companies on a regular basis, and they include:

Convincing you that drugs you used to take only when you needed them are now everyday “prevention” necessities in the form of a prescription; and

Selling you the idea that just being at risk for a chronic disease makes you someone who should be taking a drug for the disease.

What makes these two strategies so successful is that by seeing the advertisement, YOU are the one who sells it to your doctor, by suggesting that you need a certain drug, or outright asking for it. According to a recent article by Martha Rosenbergvi:

“Since direct-to-consumer drug advertising debuted in the late 1990s, the number of people on prescription drugs — especially prescription drugs for life — has ballooned. Between 2001 to 2007 the percentage of adults and children on one or more prescriptions for chronic conditions rose by more than 12 million, reports the Associated Press and 25 percent of US children now take a medication for a chronic conditionvii. Seven percent of kids take two or more daily drugs.

Who says advertising doesn’t work? Of the top-selling drugs in 2011viii, led by Lipitor, Nexium, Plavix, Advair Diskus, Abilify, Seroquel, Singulair and Crestor, none is taken occasionally, or “as needed” and the treatment goal is never to get off the drug, like an antibiotic.”

She lists six types of drugs that are “marketed for perpetuity,” meaning they’re intended to be taken for life. Sadly most of these drugs come with potential side effects that can be far worse than your original symptom, and few of them have been definitively proven to actually provide any significant health benefits. In fact, some of these drugs have been found to worsen the very condition they’re meant to treat (such as antidepressants, statins, proton pump inhibitors, and asthma-control meds), and/or cause other serious diseases.
Bribery, Fraud, and Deception Hurts YOU in More Ways than One…

Unfortunately, all of this medical deception (and at times outright fraud) is part and parcel of a much larger problem: the near unchecked system of corporate bribery that drives our political processes.

The pharmaceutical industry is the BIGGEST political lobby in the U.S.. There should be no doubt about the power the drug industry wields in shaping the U.S. health care system and all the laws relating to the industry. Political lobbying is one of the primary reasons why the drug companies control nearly the entire health industry, and why alternative medicine is under such constant legislative attack. For greater insight into this problem, please review this previous article, featuring a 60-Minutes segment with Jack Abramoff, a former lobbyist.

In recent news, we get further indications of how pervasive lobbying fraud and illegalities are.

In a submission to the Internal Revenue Service under the Tax Whistleblower Act, a nonpartisan advocacy organization, Common Causeix, has exposed what amounts to a tax scam run by a legislative group known as ALEC, for some of American’s largest companies. ALEC stands for the American Legislative Exchange Council, which describes as a public-private partnership between member legislators and business leaders.

According to legal papers filed with the IRS, Common Cause believes that ALEC’s lobbying efforts for “model” legislation are tailored to boost the profits of its corporate members—a violation of its tax-exempt status. While ALEC claims it doesn’t do lobbying, the Huffington Post reports that at least one state, South Carolina, has written a special exemption for ALEC so it can engage in a type of lobbying. The whistleblower letter to the IRS reads in part:

“… This matter concerns the massive underreporting of lobbying by the American Legislative Exchange Council (“ALEC”). While ostensibly a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, ALEC’s primary purpose is to provide a vehicle for its corporate members to lobby state legislators and to deduct the costs of such efforts as charitable contributions. ALEC drafts “model” legislation provided by its corporate and legislative members, and lobbies for the adoption of that legislation. These goals are fundamentally inconsistent with ALEC’s claimed tax-exempt status as a charitable organization under 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3), because (i) “no substantial part” of a charity’s activity can be “attempting to influence legislation,” and (ii) ALEC’s activities do not qualify under any of the enumerated purposes of Section 501(c)(3).

This scheme causes harm to taxpayers in two distinct ways. First, ALEC’s activities constitute an abuse of its 501(c)(3) tax exemption, which is reserved for organizations “operated exclusively ” for a limited number of purposes, such as “religious, charitable, scientific … or educational purposes ….” 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3).

Second, ALEC’s corporate members improperly deduct from their taxable income the dues and other contributions made to ALEC; such expenditures are non-deductible lobbying expenses under Section 162(e). In fact, because ALEC solicits very few contributions from individuals, its false claims of tax-exempt status appear driven by the desire of ALEC corporate members to deduct lobbying expenses as charitable contributions…”

Why are Soldiers Dying in Their Sleep?

While lobbying may have its place—when done in a transparent and legal way to inform legislators, and not to simply buy their votes by any means necessary—the practice has deteriorated to the point that it is endangering the health and welfare of people everywhere. Dangerous drugs are brought to market and used in lieu of harmless alternatives, and polypharmacy, the taking of too many drugs, is becoming ever more dangerous.

A case in point is the growing problem of U.S. soldiers literally dying in their sleep…

They survived the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But instead of bombs and guns, a growing number of U.S. veterans of these wars, whether they’re still deployed or back at home, are being downed by something else. They die in different ways but they all have one thing in common—at the time of their deaths they’re on a cocktail of drugs prescribed for them by military doctors.

Video description: CNN Reports on military personnel dying from drug toxicity.

Such deaths have been occurring for years, but they were recently brought to light by a West Virginia couple who shared the story of their son, Andrew White, with ABC News. Andrew died in 2008 of fatal drug intoxication. The Whites blame the prescriptions their son was on for his death. According to a report by ABC11x:

“”We call it the lethal cocktail. It’s antidepressants, antipsychotics and analgesics. It’s just overloading, and your body can’t take it,” Stan [White] explained. The Whites said Andrew was taking Seroquel, Klonopin, and Paxil. They still have the pills prescribed by Veteran’s Administration doctors to treat Andrew’s post-traumatic stress disorder… “He made that choice to trust the VA and that trust cost him his life,” [Mrs. White] continued.”

The twist to the story is that within weeks of Andrew’s death, three other war veterans—all of whom were taking the same drugs Andrew was on—also died in their sleep. It seemed like too much of a coincidence to San Diego neurologist Dr. Fred Baughman, so he combed newspaper articles and obituaries and created a list of 300 military deaths linked to sudden cardiac arrest. Surprisingly, they were all men in their 20′s, many of whom died quietly in their beds. According to Dr. Baughman, these deaths appear to be caused by the antipsychotics and antidepressants these young men were all taking.

Just weeks before White died, U.S. Surgeon General Eric B. Schoomaker had also publicly acknowledged that the military was experiencing a series of deaths that “often (were) a consequence of the use of multiple prescription and nonprescription medicines and alcohol.” Antipsychotics and antidepressants have been linked to many of the deaths. Another family who has stepped forward with their story is John and Mary Nahas, who nearly lost their son Michael after he returned from Iraq. ABC11 reports:

“Look at all the drugs they had him on,” Mary said, showing ABC11 cameras a list that includes Oxycodone, Xanax, Percocet, Klonopin, Celexa, Lunesta, and Ambien.

“I ran the list of medications by my niece – who was a psychologist in a psychiatric hospital – and she said: ‘Oh Mary, that’s a cocktail of death, they’re trying to kill him,’” said Mary. “When they returned our son to us, he looked like a concentration camp victim. He was thin. He was gray in color,” she continued. The Nahas say the medication prescribed for their son’s PTSD made him attempt suicide.”We noticed a decline in his personality from the drugs. They change cognition and behavior. We noticed anger, just couldn’t think straight,” said Mary. “The drugs had messed him up so badly.”

The Veterans Administration investigated Andrew White’s death and ruled that his doctors had done nothing wrong, as they met “the community standards of care.” Sadly, just as with conventional cancer treatment, the “standard of care” is oftentimes just as deadly as the disease… Still, the White’s are pushing for a Congressional investigation into the overmedication of military service personnel. They want VA doctors to reduce their reliance on toxic drugs, and focus on other therapies such as counseling and outdoor activities.

I couldn’t agree more.

There’s a mountain of evidence supporting the use of such alternatives, and there’s very strong evidence that some alternative treatments, such as exercise, are FAR more effective than any of the drugs currently in use. For more information about this, please listen to my interview with Robert Whitaker, author of Mad in America, and Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America.

Picture this. You arrive at a party. When you walk in the room, EVERYONE stops and stares for a second, before crowding around you to talk.

Everyone wants a piece of you; you’re the center of attention. When you speak, people LISTEN.

They cling to your every word. You crack jokes effortlessly, and people find you funny…irresistible… and strangely magnetic.

Members of the opposite sex can’t help being around you. Everyone wants to be your friend…to seek your advice… to indulge in your stories. You’re strong, attractive, confident, radiating power and respect.

You’re the top of the food chain– the *alpha*personality that everyone loves and adores (and is secretly jealous of).

If that describes you, great — you’re well aware of how this rare ability affords you an incredible lifestyle, fun and thrilling social encounters, and opens doors to career opportunities closed off to the general public.

But if that’s NOT you, listen up… because you’re seriously missing out. And what’s more, you*can* be that person, almost immediately.

In fact, if you’re the type who shies away in the corner… avoids social confrontation… can’t stand being the center of attention (but would love to)… and is SCARED TO DEATH at the thought of standing up and speaking in front of a crowd of people… I can turn you into the most confident person in the room.

See, the reason you’re shy and introverted isn’t because you’re any less social, humorous, intelligent or charismatic than others. Many confident people aren’t smart or charismatic at all… they just don’t fear what other people think of them.

As a child, you were conditioned to keep your mouth shut (Ever been told by your parents “Don’t talk to strangers?”.). You were ordered to obey authority figures like parents, teachers, adults. As a grown-up, this “learned” behavior is like a knife to your confidence… and is no longer relevant to your life.

It’s time to shake it off.

The good news is, you can completely *reverse*the conditioning that’s no longer valuable in your adult life… in just minutes. It’s quick, effortless, requires zero practice, and works even if you don’t think it will.

That’s because, I have access to a powerful hypnosis CD that targets your negative ego, and re-programs your mind to immediately enjoy greater confidence.

It’s called “Extrovert Me” and it has already helped HUNDREDS of people kill confidence issues dead (and it’s only just been released to the public).

Chiropractors and Naturopaths – Are They Dangerous?

The medical profession has a long history of opposing alternative healing professions. The rules of engagement have changed; as the AMA is finding new “legal” ways to discredit and limit practitioners of natural medicine
Alternative healthcare professionals such as chiropractors, naturopaths, and midwives have been targeted by the American Medical Association (AMA) for nearly a century, in spite of a federal court injunction against the AMA in 1987 for illegally trying to create a monopoly in the healthcare market
Other medical associations have joined forces to manipulate the public into believing natural medicine is quackery by spreading propaganda and mistruths

By Dr. Mercola

The medical profession has a long history of opposing alternative healing professions.

While always claiming public safety as its reason for the attacks, the true reasons often involve protecting their monopoly of the healthcare market.

Medicine’s opposition to chiropractic was its strongest under the leadership of Morris Fishbein, Secretary of the American Medical Association from 1924 to 1949, who led a 50-year anti-chiropractic campaign in both professional publications and the public media.

Historical Antitrust Lawsuits Against Medical Societies

In 1975 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of Goldfarb vs. the Virginia State Bar, that learned professions are not exempt from antitrust suits.

In 1982 the Court ruled that the FTC could enforce antitrust laws against medical societies.

These two suits paved the way for five chiropractors to file an anti-trust suit against the American Medical Association (AMA) and several other heath care agencies and societies in Federal District Court (known as the Wilkes Case).

Judge Susan Getzendanner found the AMA and others guilty of an illegal conspiracy against the chiropractic profession in September of 1987, ordering a permanent injunction against the AMA and forcing them to print the court’s findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Even with success of the Wilkes Case and other anti-trust litigation, the AMA continues to this day to wage a campaign against chiropractic.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has maintained a decades-long battle against “alternative” healing traditions, dating back to the 1920s and arguably even earlier. The courts eventually ruled in favor of the chiropractors in 1987, finding the AMA guilty of a conspiracy to take down the chiropractic profession, as the above article recounts in detail.

But was this the end of it? Has the AMA resigned itself to the fact that chiropractic, as well as other forms of natural medicine, are here to stay? Not a chance.

The AMA’s Bedfellows

Even with the success of the Wilkes Case, the AMA has continued to wage war against natural medicine for the past 20 years—but in more covert ways. It’s the “Cold War” phase of this battle, but every bit as fierce. And now the AMA has rallied up a few significant allies, including:

The American Dental Association (ADA)
The American Cancer Society (ACS)
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and
The American Psychiatric Association (APA)

… not to mention governmental regulatory agencies; all willing to march toward a common goal—a monopoly on medical care in this country. Together, they form a formidable lobbying force that controls just about every regulatory and legislative body in America. The truth is that chiropractic, naturopathic, and osteopathic medicine have PROVEN to be medically effective and cost effective for the patient, and the AMA can’t stomach this, viewing natural medicine as a huge threat to their bottom line.

Federal Courts Rule AMA “Guilty as Charged”

In 1987, the federal courts found the AMA and several other medical groups guilty of seeking to create a healthcare monopoly. Specifically, they were found guilty of the following actions (published in the January 1988 issue of JAMA):

Systematic defamation of naturopathic, chiropractic, and osteopathic physicians

Publishing and distribution of propaganda specifically intended to ruin other healthcare professionals’ reputations

Forcing MDs to refuse collaboration with naturopathic, chiropractic, and osteopathic physicians in the co-management of patients

Denying hospital access to naturopathic, chiropractic, and osteopathic physicians

The attack on osteopathic medicine has largely faded away since then, but chiropractic and naturopathic practitioners, as well as other legitimate natural medicine practitioners, continue to be the targets of suppression and misrepresentation. The war isn’t over, but the rules of engagement have changed.

AMA Declares New War on Natural Medicine in 2006

In 2006, the AMA declared war on natural medicine by publicly stating on its website its intention to forcibly oppose licensure and practice of naturopathic physicians. Although they quickly removed this from their site, the following is a direct quote from that post, according to Naturopathy Digest:

“RESOLVED, That our American Medical Association work through its Board of Trustees to outline a policy opposing the licensure of naturopaths to practice medicine and report this policy to the House of Delegates no later than the 2006 Interim Meeting. (Directive to Take Action) Fiscal Note: Implement accordingly at estimated staff cost of $10,836.”

Translation: Eliminate the competition.

According to The Integrator Blog, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) joined the battle with a statement that their goal was to “thwart the growing threat of expansion of scope of practice for allied health professionals” and included psychologists on the list of medical practitioners who needed to be “thwarted” (in addition to naturopaths, chiropractors, and midwives). The APA pledged their allegiance to the AMA in assisting them with “coordinating research to help medical specialty societies and state medical associations fight expansions in non-medical scope of practice, and improve information sharing among those groups.”

Other medical associations have made similar pledges, such as the Minnesota Medical Association and the New York Academy of Family Physicians. They maintain that their position is based on concern for quality of care and patient safety, but the REAL agenda is just an attempt to destroy the competition.

As Chiropractor Louis Sportelli writes in his 2010 article in Dynamic Chiropractic:

“Just look around and you will see clear and compelling evidence that the long-standing war between the AMA and everyone else who does not come under the AMA umbrella is far from over. The names have changed, the venue has changed, but the intent has remained the same: to maintain monopolistic control over the delivery of health care.”

Old Mission, New Tactics: AMA Learns How to Discriminate with Impunity

In 2010, the AMA House of Delegates introduced a resolution regarding scope of practice that contains limitations on who can be considered a legitimate physician, and who can medically diagnose. Specifically, the AMA‘s “Definition of a Physician” (H-405.969) contains the following language:

“The AMA affirms that a physician is an individual who has received a ‘Doctor of Medicine’ or a ‘Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine’ degree.”

This is proof, without a doubt, that the AMA as well as individual state medical associations intend to continue doing everything they can to prevent you from accessing natural healthcare. Texas and Connecticut medical associations were the first to join the cause, and others will likely follow. Similarly, the AMA‘s “Comprehensive Physical Examination by Appropriate Practitioners” reads as follows:

“…the performance of comprehensive physical examinations to diagnose medical conditions [should be limited] to licensed MDs/DOs or those practitioners who are directly supervised by licensed MDs/DOs.”

State Medical Associations Jumping on Board

In 2010, the Texas Medical Board of Examiners filed an action against the Texas Chiropractic Board of Examiners challenging the authority of DCs (Doctors of Chiropractic) to perform some of their medical procedures, and challenging their authority to diagnose. How can medical associations get away with such shenanigans now, when they were given such a clear message to back off in the injunction of 1987? After all, these are very similar tactics to what they were found guilty of back in 1987.

Well, according to Sportinelli, the AMA has learned some lessons about how to beat the law—loopholes that allow them to go on the attack while sidestepping “restraint of trade” or “illegal boycott” violations:

“It [AMA] now understands that government action is protected under the Constitution, as is action in petitioning the government. It can lawfully petition local, state and federal legislators and attempt to influence any legislation without fear of committing actionable restraint of trade or illegal boycott. (However, the AMA does seem to be getting dangerously close with its resolution regarding the “definition of a physician,” in that it appears to involve hospital action without the intervention of government.)”

And what does one need in order to effectively influence the government? Money. This is something the AMA has—and piles of it. Sportinelli goes on to say that the medical industry is likely gearing up for a 50-state effort to put non-MD/DO physicians out of business. And this means fewer choices about your own medical care.

Profit Motives Cleverly Disguised as Concern for Your Health and Safety

According to Naturopathy Digest, the AMA and other medical groups justify their opposition to natural medicine on the basis of three areas of concern:

Quality of patient care
Patient safety
Quality of education of medical practitioners

As the article so eloquently points out, none of these arguments holds up, and most are based on medical and pharmaceutical industry propaganda. If they were TRULY concerned about patient care and safety, they would not be targeting natural medicine, which has an incredibly low incidence of adverse consequences, but instead going after their own allopathic medical practices that are leaving a trail of death and destruction.

Drug “side effects”, prescription errors, unnecessary surgeries, nosocomial infections, and hospital “errors” are a leading cause of death in the United States. In fact, one estimate is that allopathic medicine kills 493 American patients daily. The number of people who die each week as a result of medical treatments surpasses the number of deaths caused by the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Yes, each and every week!

Many of the drugs advertised in JAMA (the AMA’s scientific journal) are the very same drugs that are killing tens of thousands of Americans each year. This massive funding of the AMA by drug companies is a blatant conflict of interest. If the AMA really cared about your safety, they’d be putting their substantial assets into overhauling the American healthcare system. The AMA is fond of lambasting the education and training of chiropractors, when in actuality, they should be more concerned about the educational qualifications of their own physicians. In their own publications, they have stated:

“Medical education is failing to prepare students adequately for their future practice… medical education is currently being held together with peanut butter and bubble gum.”

At least four consecutive studies have documented that most MDs are incompetent when it comes to diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems, something at which chiropractors excel. Another example of an abysmal lack of education of Western physicians is in the area of diet and nutrition. The AMA itself has published research showing that dietary interventions should be used before drugs in the treatment of heart disease. Yet, medical students receive virtually NO training in nutrition. Naturopathic and chiropractic physicians, on the other hand, are usually well versed in the importance of nutrition and exercise.

It’s Not Just the AMA

Perhaps it’s time to take a real look at medical associations, and the concern that they may be doing more harm than good. For groups who claim to exist in order to protect your health, they inevitably end up sabotaging it. It isn’t just the AMA. Other medical associations that claim to exist for the betterment of public health include the following:

American Dental Association (ADA): Continues to support the use of mercury fillings and demonizes biological dentists who oppose the use of mercury in dentistry; continues to support fluoridation, in spite of the evidence it does more harm than good.
American Cancer Society (ACS): This charity has close ties to the mammography industry, the cancer drug industry, and the pesticide industry; has rampant conflicts of interest; consistently promotes drugs and screening procedures while ignoring environmental causes of cancer.
National Cancer Institute (NCI): Has spent billions of taxpayer dollars promoting treatments while ignoring strategies for preventing cancer; abundant ties to the cancer drug industry (for more information, read Samuel Epstein’s new book, National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society: Criminal Indifference to Cancer Prevention and Conflicts of Interest)
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP): Claiming to be protecting your children, the AAP is largely funded by vaccine manufacturers but refuses to disclose just how much money it gets from them; partners with Congress to protect pediatricians and drug companies from liability for vaccine injuries, while preventing you from getting truthful vaccine information.

Actions Speak Louder than Words

When someone’s words differ from their actions, chances are that their actions more accurately reflect their values—and this is true for organizations, as well as individuals. Although medical associations claim to have your best interests at heart, their actions tell a different story. It’s time to begin holding them accountable for their behavior and stop letting them hide behind the same old tired rhetoric.

You have a right to make your own choices about your healthcare, be it allopathic or naturopathic—whether you see an MD, an ND, or a DC should be YOUR decision and yours alone.

With all its designer drugs and state-of-the-art machinery, you’d think modern medicine is the perfect fix for providing patient-focused care. You might also expect that Americans would be the healthiest people on Earth, seeing that the U.S. is the epicenter of all this technology, and especially since we spend more on health care than any other country in the world.Yet, every year in the U.S., seven out of 10 deaths are due to preventable chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, stroke, and obesity. How can that be?How is it that we’re not just chronically ill, but also lagging behind most industrialized nations in life expectancy? The answer lies in how we approach health care: like it or not, the real focus of modern medicine is on selling disease and making money, not making you well.

New Disease Definitions and Phony Parameters Feed Pharma’s Pockets

From blood pressure guidelines to mental illness definitions and dozens of other physical ailments, modern medicine’s bottom line for only treating symptoms is to expand the indications for the drug pipeline. And that’s not just in the United States. For most of the world, the definition of health “care” has become interchangeable with drug interventions. I put the word “care” in quotations to indicate this is modern medicine’s definition, not mine.I’ll explain my personal definition of health care later in this article, but for the standard paradigm, it’s apparent it means not only lowering the minimum acceptable parameters for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, but creating new “diseases” to be “treated.” The result is that more people than ever are now on drugs for preventable chronic conditions. Unfortunately, all these drugs haven’t made us healthier. Instead, we just keep spending more money, with 75 percent of every health care dollar going to chronic disease treatment. In 2008 alone, Americans spent $2.3 trillion on this type of health “care” – three times the $714 billion spent in 1990, and more than eight times the $253 billion spent in 1980.In other parts of the world, 36 million people die every year due to chronic diseases – which health officials predict will cost $47 trillion a year by 2030. The numbers are so staggering that the United Nations has formed a special committee just to address strategies for addressing chronic disease. The committees met several times, most recently in New York City, where they declared war on salt, junk food, and tobacco as their first move toward reigning in health care costs.

Sick Pills for Well People

Doctors realize merely treating symptoms does not remove the disease. They also know it’s lifestyle choices, not salt, junk food, or tobacco, that are responsible for making us ill. So why are drugs typically their first line of “patient-centered” care, particularly when so many of them have side effects that can only be treated with more drugs? And what makes health officials think that taxing, banning or regulating salt, junk food, and tobacco is going to solve the chronic disease crisis? In her book, “Death by Modern Medicine,” Dr. Carolyn Dean talks about how, for well over a century, the definition of health care has been pills-and-drugs. It’s a deliberately schemed and manipulated paradigm that’s been packaged and sold through:

The insurance industry’s (including Medicare’s and Medicaid’s) methodology for payment, which doesn’t recognize nutritional care or proven naturopathic approaches to health care
Direct-to-Consumer advertising
Influencing physicians and other health care providers through gifts, honoraria for speaking engagements, and financial support for training programs, which is simply another form of advertising
Intense lobbying by PhRMA and individual drug makers such as Merck and Pfizer

Big Bucks for Buying Doctors’ Attention

When it comes to making payments to physicians it wants to influence, the pharmaceutical industry is very generous, Pharma Marketing Blog notes:

“Last year (2010) a mere dozen pharmaceutical companies paid $760 million to physicians and other health care providers for consulting, speaking, research and expenses, according to ProPublica’s ‘Dollars for Docs’ project.”

These “gifts” ranged from $50 to $2,000 for a single meal, to thousands of dollars for speaking fees, ProPublica said. In fact, one pain specialist, Gerald M. Sacks, allegedly racked in $270,825 from four different Big Pharma companies in one year! Whether that bonus income influenced Dr. Sacks’ prescribing practices is unknown, but what we do know is that just between 1997 and 2005, the amount of five major painkillers sold in the U.S. jumped 90 percent – and in 2011 prescription drug overdoses replaced car accidents as the No. 1 reason for accidental deaths in the U.S., with painkillers topping the list. It’s scandalous how this happens, Dr. Dean says, because when it’s all said and done, the advertising and marketing aren’t even based on science!According to a study published in 2004:

“…only 6 percent of drug advertising material is supported by scientific evidence. Therefore, most of what you read about a drug is pure fiction, and doesn’t help a person to make an informed choice about what they are taking, what it will do, and how it may harm them. Drug companies are making claims based on lies.”

The British Medical Journal said

“High amount of misinformation puts patients’ health at risk” because “doctors tend to base their decisions on the information and advertising material sent out by drug companies.”

That’s right. Doctors rely on drug companies to tell them how to treat their patients, and with what drug. What’s disturbing is that drug studies often result in bias favoring the sponsoring company, meaning that what your doctor is learning from drug reps may be highly slanted toward you getting a prescription for something that has little or no science behind it.Now you know why Americans consume nearly 40 percent of all pharmaceutical products sold! As Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber say in their book, “Trust Us, We’re Experts,” it’s the best science money can buy. However, there are two other cash-cows that drug companies love even more since it is becoming progressively more difficult to patent new drugs.

Vaccines are the New Revenue Source for Drug Companies

Vaccines are a highly controversial topic and if you still believe that most benefit from them I would encourage you to do some additional research. I have a dedicated section on this site where you can learn more. First, vaccines have not eliminated disease in the world; and secondly, they are huge moneymakers, no matter what health officials want you to think. When it comes to vaccine safety, information, and choice, I recommend the National Vaccine Information Center, which has the most informative vaccine website I know of, where you can educate yourself on vaccine choices. When it comes to revenues, vaccines are one of the fastest-growing sectors of the pharmaceutical industry, with a projected $36.3 billion-a-year business by 2013. This business is helped along by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) which recommends vaccines in the U.S., which in turn prompts states to follow up by mandating them. But don’t believe the old line that all this recommending and mandating only costs doctors money. Although the government regulates what pediatricians can charge for vaccines, it also gives some nice “incentives” for making sure you and your child get fully vaccinated.Dubbed the “AFIX” approach, these incentives consist of an:

Assessment that evaluates how well-vaccinated a provider’s patients are, compared to what the CDC would like them to be;
Feedback to providers on what they can and must do to improve immunization rates;
Incentives to motivate physicians to step up their efforts to push vaccines on their patients; and
eXchange of information about how each provider’s vaccine status compares to other providers, state norms and expected outcomes.

The incentive part of AFIX is quite broad: referred to as “opportunities for partnerships and collaboration,” they range from “small tokens” of appreciation and “resources,” to “assisting” with staffing, including paying for nurses and community-based vaccinators (i.e. those giving shots in drug stores). No wonder so many entities are suddenly on-board with the latest flu vaccine push! The truth is vaccines are Pharma’s latest money machines.

Cancer—Another Major Revenue Stream

For more than forty years the war on cancer has been waged with abysmal results. It’s no secret that we are not winning the war on cancer, partly because the FDA is a rogue, out-of-control agency that systematically sabotages serious threats to the current model. Proven cancer cures like that of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, who showed a tremendous success rate for his antineoplastin treatment over 30 years ago are a great example of this suppression. The “science” behind the FDA’s decisions on what cancer studies can be introduced to the public is in the politics, and the fact that Pharma feeds the FDA’s pockets, through direct fees drug companies pay the FDA to get their products reviewed, and the less-reportable, more lucrative bonuses drug companies give the FDA for such things as travel expenses and speakers’ fees. The bottom line is, as Dr. Samuel Epstein says in his book, “The Politics of Cancer,” this industry is fed and led by politics.Drug company research and publicly-funded budgets for the likes of the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and the National Institute of Health are dependent on treating cancer, not preventing it. The reason is obvious: the $50 billion-a-year cancer business is growing by 15 percent a year. If they cure cancer, there goes the bottom line.

Disease Prevention 101: A Healthy Lifestyle

The best way to avoid the pitfalls of modern medicine, especially dangerous drugs, is to modify your lifestyle. Of all the healthy lifestyle strategies I know of that can have a significant impact on your health, normalizing your insulin and leptin levels is probably the most important. There is no question that this is an absolute necessity if you want to avoid disease. That means modifying your diet to avoid excessive amounts of fructose, grains, and other pro-inflammatory ingredients like trans fats, and exercising regularly. These additional strategies can further help you stay healthy:

Optimize Your Vitamin D Levels to between 50 and 70 ng/ml.
Animal based omega-3 fats – Correcting the ratio of omega-3 to healthful omega-6 fats is a strong factor in helping people live longer. This typically means increasing your intake of animal based omega-3 fats, such as krill oil, while decreasing your intake of damaged omega-6 fats (think trans fats).
Get most of your antioxidants from foods –Good sources include blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries, beans, and artichokes.
Use coconut oil – Another excellent anti-aging food is coconut oil, known to reduce your risk of heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease, and lower your cholesterol, among other things.
Avoid as many chemicals, toxins, and pollutants as possible – This includes tossing out your toxic household cleaners, soaps, personal hygiene products, air fresheners, bug sprays, lawn pesticides, and insecticides, just to name a few, and replacing them with non-toxic alternatives.
Use great caution when it comes to prescription drugs – Pharmaceutical drugs kill thousands of people prematurely every year – as an expected side effect of the action of the drug. And, if you adhere to a healthy lifestyle, you most likely will never need any of them in the first place.
Learn how to effectively cope with stress– Stress has a direct impact on inflammation, which in turn underlies many of the chronic diseases that kill people prematurely every day, so developing effective coping mechanisms is a major longevity-promoting factor.Meditation, prayer, physical activity and exercise are all viable options that can help you maintain emotional and mental equilibrium. I also strongly believe in using energy psychology tools such as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to address deeper, oftentimes hidden emotional problems.

Incorporating these healthy lifestyle guidelines will help set you squarely on the path to optimal health and give you the best shot at living a much longer life. Remember, it’s never too late to take control of your health. And when you do go to the doctor, know that it’s OK to ask questions and opt for less medical intervention while choosing a more natural way of healing your body – you should NEVER think that you’re not supposed to, or can’t, ask questions of the person you’ve entrusted with your body.

——————————————-
